Some of Emily’s first memories are of working (and eating) in her parents’ garden in Port Townsend Washington where kale and parsley could still be harvested in December. About half of the food that she ate growing up came from the huge vegetable, herb, and fruit gardens she often grumbled about having to work weekends in. Now, with a home of her own in the much shorter growing season of Saint Paul MN, she is overjoyed when she can take peppers and tomatoes harvested in August out of the freezer for dinner in December. Emily is an improv cook by nature and enjoys creating dishes inspired by many different people and traditions with her own creative twist. She is currently  trying to develop some of the more exacting skills required for baking and presentation, but still most enjoys cooking seasonal, nourishing meals for her husband, family, and friends.
