I’m sure you’ve all got some variant of this sitting in the back of your cooking brain. Still, I’d forgotten it for a while, but the “too much eating out/hotel food/etc.” of last week has made me crave simple, healthy, somewhat detoxifying food, and at the market today, I saw the sprouts and the recipe came flooding back.

Just in case you haven’t thought this one up before, here you go.

You need:

  1. Some amount of sprouted beans, chick peas, peas, and anything else legume like that will sprout. You can probably buy these at your coop, or you can sprout them yourself. They are crazy good for you. And they taste good too.
  2. Garlic, sliced thin
  3. Onion, sliced thin
  4. Braggs liquid aminos - a tablespoon or so
  5. Toasted sesame oil - another tablespoon or so
  6. Salt
  7. dried/crushed red chili or maybe some of that chili paste?

That’s the bare minimum - you can add soybeans, sliced up veggies, go nuts - personally, I like to keep it simple, but really, it is up to you.

Heat some oil in a pan, and when really hot, toss in your garlic and stir-fry for a minute or so.

Add in your onion, stir around for a minute and add in salt and red chili to taste. Fry till onion turns light brown.

Add in your sprouts which you’ve washed/rinsed. Add in Bragg’s aminos and sesame oil. Stir and fry till the sprouts are cooked/heated to your liking - and remember that sprouts loose their nutritional value the longer you cook them. Some can be eaten raw, others need some cooking, so know your sprouts and don’t cook them longer than necessary.
Serve over rice, preferably brown.
